Product
TOG value: How much TOG does your Wombi have?
There is no official TOG value for the Wombi. But for the summer model (light jersey fabric, comparable to a t-shirt) it corresponds to a value of about 0.5 TOG - 1.0 TOG and for the regular winter model 1.5 TOG (comparable to a sweatshirt). The 2.5 TOG Wombi (lined) for extra cold winter nights is also new.
Why does the Wombi fold/wave?
It is normal for the Wombi to throw slight “waves” on the zipper due to the loose cut of the Wombi. Usually, however, the zipper does not arch up so far that it disturbs the children when they sleep.
Maybe your child's measurements (shoulder to sole) are at the lower end of our size recommendation ( size table & purchase advice ). The "waves" are more likely to form when the Wombi is on the next size was changed.
Why are the sleeves so short?
If the hands on the Wombi are not folded (opened), it can appear that the sleeves are too short. The Wombi is primarily intended to be used with the sleeves closed, to give the children a feeling of security as if they were in the womb through the resistance of their hands, and thus gently wean them from swaddling, for example.
Babies can only open their hands in the womb if they pull them close to their body, and it is the same with the Wombi. Because then the tension in the fabric is released, allowing the babies to open their hands. On the other hand, when they stretch their arms, it also behaves like in the womb and the babies bump into the resistance of the sleeves with their hands. This creates that special feeling for babies that calms them down faster when they wake up and so often they fall asleep all by themselves without waking up and crying.
Why is the zipper stuck?
We have used a special zip with a safety stop function on our Wombis so that the zip does not open by itself, even if the babies are romping around in the Wombi.
The zipper puller has a small hook that must first be "unlocked" before the puller can be pulled cleanly over the zipper. Attached are pictures that illustrate the function.
If you briefly pull the slider upwards on the small bracket before you pull it in the desired direction, then the zipper should open and close without any problems. If not, please contact us and we will find a solution together.
Why don't the legs stay in the "feet" of the Wombi?
Important: The feet do NOT always have to be directly in the "feet" of the Wombi!
Especially when you have changed to the next size or your child is at the lower limit of our recommendation, it can happen that there is still a lot of space at the bottom of the Wombi and your child's legs pull up when it moves. Babies should always have 10 cm of space at the bottom of a sleeping bag to kick around. Even with both legs stuck in an opening, most children don't mind sleeping. You are welcome to try to pull the entire Wombi up/down a little and turn it over once on the stomach. That helps very often.
Function
What to do if my child doesn't like the Wombi?
Patience is the order of the day. The transition from swaddling to the Wombi does not always happen overnight. You have to pay attention to the signs of your child here. We always advise trying the Wombi for 2-3 short naps a day first and then only trying the Wombi for the night if the little ones react positively.
Basically, the little ones need about 10-15 minutes to get used to the new sleepwear. If your baby still doesn't like the Wombi at first, then in most cases it helps to try the Wombi again 2-3 weeks later . Because then your baby just wasn't ready to sleep without swaddling.
Can my baby sleep on its stomach with the Wombi?
Yes! Because the Wombi was specially designed to ensure full freedom of movement . Since the little ones can move their arms freely in the Wombi, they can always roll onto their stomach and back again. You can see how agile the little ones are with the Wombi in our short product video from Wombambino:
Can my baby still grab his pacifier or other objects with the Wombi?
Yes! Since the hands are free in the Wombi and the fabric is not too thick, the little ones can easily reach for objects through the fabric. In addition, small children do not think as complicated when acting as we adults do. They work with what they have and try to achieve their goal, eg the pacifier, with it. Watch our short video for yourself:
Can the Wombi also be used in the car/in the stretcher?
Thanks to the loose cut of the Wombis and the wide legs, the child can be comfortably strapped into the car seat or carried in the stretcher.
Can my child crawl/walk when wearing the Wombi?
Whether sleeping, crawling or running, everything is possible with our Wombi baby sleeping bag. The unique, protected design offers optimal freedom of movement for your baby. So the little ones are not restricted and can explore the big world. Our Wombi supports your child in all phases.
However, if your child also wants to walk in the Wombi, we advise you to put on stopper socks over your feet on the Wombi, otherwise, depending on the surface, it can be very slippery and there can be a risk of injury!
Our child was not swaddled. Can the Wombi still help? / Also useful for older children?
Since we grant a 30-day test phase , we always advise you to simply try out our Wombi! 🙂
Of course, the Wombi can also be used with children if they have not been swaddled before. Due to the special cut, the Wombi gives the children a secure feeling like in the womb and can thus help them sleep better, especially when the children have restless sleep. The Wombi is therefore also suitable for older children. The fold-over sleeves offer additional flexibility in the use of our special sleeping bag.
Is it easy to put on and take off the Wombi?
Yes! In our design, we deliberately made sure that you can quickly put your child on and take them off again with our Wombi. We know the situations when things have to be done quickly and we know that small children can sometimes be impatient :). We did the live test:

In addition, small children do not think as complicated when acting as we adults do. They work with what they have and try to achieve their goal, eg the pacifier, with it.
